The Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, stated that preparations are underway to celebrate the years 2025 to 2035 as the “Tourism Decade” in Nepal.
In response to questions raised by MPs during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Public Policy and Legislation Committee, he mentioned that plans are being developed to designate the period from 2025 to 2035 as the Tourism Decade.
“We should not just declare a tourism decade; we need to focus on economic preparations for it. Discussions are currently underway regarding how much investment the government can make for the tourism decade, how much foreign assistance there might be,” he said. He emphasized that solving issues related to culture, tourism, and the aviation sector has been prioritized.
“People come to the ministry asking for monasteries, temples, or mosques, and we have been addressing such requests based on priority. In some places, discussions are taking place on how much the federal government, provincial government, local government, and stakeholders will contribute to building a temple, and we are working based on priorities,” he added.
Minister Pandey also mentioned that work is underway to manage, preserve, and maintain existing airports, and studies are being conducted based on the demand for new airports in various locations. He shared that a policy decision has been made for all press-related work to be carried out at the Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan (Nepal Academy) for the sake of good governance. Studies are also ongoing to make all operational airports excellent in every respect.
