Nepal will play its first group-stage match against Iraq in the 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship, scheduled from March 6 to 8 in Tehran, Iran. Nepal is placed in Group B alongside Iran and Iraq.
The team will play its second match against Iran on March 7. Meanwhile, Group A consists of India, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia. The tournament follows a league-cum-knockout format, where the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
Nepal’s women’s kabaddi team previously won a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
The Nepalese squad, led by captain Manamati Bista, includes Jayanti Badu, Rabina Chaudhary, Ganga Ghimire, Srijana Kumari Tharu, Nisha Bohara, Nisha Khatri, Manisha Joshi, Ashma Yadav, and Binita Pandit Chhetri.
