Finance Minister Poudel Calls for Modern and Reliable IT Systems in Government Services
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has emphasized the need to modernize and improve the government’s IT systems to make service delivery faster, more efficient, and reliable. During a discussion on Tuesday about the current IT systems used in the Ministry of Finance and its associated departments, he stressed that advanced technology is essential for smooth and uninterrupted services. He also directed officials to develop skilled human resources and technical capacity to support IT operations.
In response, officials from various departments reported that their IT systems are regularly audited and are secure. They also presented plans to increase system backup capacity. However, they pointed out that although the demand for skilled IT professionals is growing, retaining them is difficult due to low salaries and benefits.
Finance Minister Poudel assured that the government will introduce policies to address these issues. The meeting was attended by officials from key financial institutions, including Nepal Rastra Bank, the Inland Revenue Department, the Customs Department, and other related agencies.
