The ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier starts today, April 13, 2025, in Kathmandu, Nepal. This tournament will determine which team qualifies for the U-19 World Cup, scheduled to be held next year in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Nepal Faces UAE in Opening Match

Nepal’s U-19 cricket team will kick off their campaign against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today. The match is set to begin at 9:30 AM at the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu.

Nepal’s Previous Victory Over UAE

In the previous Asia Qualifier held in 2023, Nepal secured a thrilling seven-run victory over the UAE, thanks to Dipesh Kandel’s exceptional performance, which included a hat-trick. This win earned Nepal a spot in the 2024 U-19 World Cup.

Afghanistan Poses a New Challenge

This year, Afghanistan joins the Asia Qualifier, adding a significant challenge for Nepal. Prior to the qualifier, Nepal and Afghanistan played a three-match series at the Mulpani Cricket Ground. Afghanistan won the series 2-1, indicating strong competition ahead.

Five Teams Compete for a Single Spot

The qualifier features five teams: Nepal, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. Only the top team will secure a place in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2026.
