Australian football coach Matt Ross is expected to become the new head coach of the Nepal Men’s National Football Team. Ross, a UEFA Pro License holder, has a strong background in international coaching. His most recent role was as Assistant Manager at United FC.

Before that, he gained significant experience as an Assistant Coach for the South Korean Women’s National Team during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup (2020-2023). He also worked as an Assistant Coach at FFC Frankfurt, a top German women’s football club, where they won the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in 2014-15.

Ross was seen attending the Sabhapati Cup recently, where he watched the match between Machhindra FC and APF FC, taking notes and assessing local talent. This follows the departure of Vincenzo Alberto Annese, who managed Nepal for 17 matches from March 2023 to September 2024. After Annese’s exit, Nabin Neupane took over as interim coach on October 21, 2024, and led Nepal to a win over Afghanistan in a friendly match. Neupane also managed the team in a game against Tajikistan, where Nepal played under his leadership.

Fans are hopeful that Ross’s international experience, particularly his time with South Korea and Frankfurt, will help bring positive changes to the Nepal Men’s National Football Team.
