The upcoming Nepali sci-fi movie Eklo has captured a major action scene in a specially built set at Panauti Municipality, Kavrepalanchok. Director Pradeep Shahi shared that the sequence features a three-minute continuous shot that required careful planning and preparation. The scene stars senior actor Vijay Lama and actress Diya Pun in intense performances.
Zombie chaos unfolds in front of pilot character
In this particular scene, Vijay Lama’s character—a pilot—faces a terrifying and chaotic moment following a road accident. The panic is caused by a zombie outbreak, with the crowd’s frantic reactions adding to the suspense. According to the director, this moment serves as a critical turning point in the movie’s storyline.
One-shot sequence took six hours to complete
To perfect the scene, actors had to repeatedly run between the crash of a car and a bicycle. Any minor mistake meant the entire scene had to start from scratch. Despite being just two minutes long, it took nearly six hours to capture the shot due to its complexity. Executive producer Binod Suvedi ‘Kshitiz’ explained that such scenes demand high-level coordination and patience. “Even a small error meant we had to redo everything,” he said.
Film aims to set a new benchmark in Nepali cinema
Eklo is expected to introduce a fresh style to Nepali movies, especially with its sci-fi theme and high production value. Lead actor Pradeep Khadka headlines the film, which is currently in post-production in London. The release is scheduled around Christmas this year (Nepali month of Poush).
Teaser shows bold new look of cast
The recently released teaser gave a glimpse of actors like Pradeep Khadka, Vijay Lama, Diya Pun, Kavita Nepali, Jamie Bacon, and Benisha Hamal in unique appearances. The movie also made waves internationally by being featured at the Cannes Film Festival’s market section, drawing attention from global viewers.
