Popular Nepali singer Eleena Chauhan has filed for divorce from her husband, Bishnu Sapkota. She submitted the divorce case at the Kathmandu District Court on Friday, naming Sapkota as the defendant.
According to court spokesperson Deepak Kumar Shrestha, Chauhan has requested a divorce without claiming any property rights.
Chauhan married Sapkota on April 17, 2024. She is currently one of Nepal’s most well-known singers. However, she has accused her husband of doubting her character multiple times. Sapkota lives in Australia.
For some time, there have been rumors that their relationship was not going well. After filing for divorce, Chauhan shared her thoughts on social media, saying she wants to learn from this experience and start fresh.
She mentioned that both she and her family decided after careful consideration. “No one gets married expecting a divorce. Everyone hopes their marriage will last forever,” she said. “Even parents don’t want a divorce, as it breaks their hearts.”
Chauhan added that the decision was made after much thought and discussion with her family. “Sometimes, things happen out of necessity rather than choice. If an accident happens tomorrow despite our differences, what will we do?”
She also admitted that they had conflicts even before marriage and that getting married was a rushed decision. “Over time, I couldn’t handle it. I couldn’t meet his expectations,” she shared.
