After the recent flood in the Lhende River on Asar 24 destroyed the Miteri bridge, many Nepalis got stranded in Kerung, China. To bring them back, the Nepali government has now started the process to repatriate them through the Tatopani border in Sindhupalchok. Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, Arjun Paudel, said that diplomatic efforts with the Chinese government are underway to make this possible. The return plan prioritizes workers and truck drivers stranded for work-related reasons. The flood, caused by a glacial surge from China merging into the Bhotekoshi River, was devastating. It claimed 11 lives, with 18 people still missing. It also damaged a 16-kilometer stretch of the Rasuwagadhi–Syafrubesi road and swept away the Nepal–China friendship bridge, three hydropower projects, customs areas, and around 100 vehicles from the Rasuwagadhi dry port area.
