NEPSE plunges by 54.62 points as market sees sharp decline

The stock market saw a significant decline on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The NEPSE index dropped by 54.62 points (2.04%) compared to the previous day.

Following this decline, NEPSE settled at 2,614 points. The market remained on a downward trend from the opening. Trading volume also increased, reaching NPR 6.32 billion today compared to NPR 4.56 billion on the previous trading day.

A total of 13 companies saw an increase in their stock prices, while 230 companies experienced a decline. All sector indices fell, with Banking down by 1.47%, Development Bank by 2.42%, Finance by 2.99%, Hotels & Tourism by 2.23%, Hydropower by 2.33%, Investment by 2.05%, Life Insurance by 1.85%, Manufacturing & Processing by 1.46%, Microfinance by 2.36%, Non-Life Insurance by 2.07%, Others by 1.74%, and Trading by 2.85%.

Debentures led the gainers, with ICFC Debenture 88 rising by 3.89%, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydro by 2.8%, NICAD 8283 by 2%, and SBDB 87 by 2%.

On the other hand, Mithila Laghubitta’s stock price fell by 10%. Sapatri Hydropower declined by 7.34%, Upakar Laghubitta by 6.87%, Upper Solu Hydro by 6.83%, and Bhugol Energy by 6.83%.

In terms of trading volume, Himalayan Reinsurance, NRN Infrastructure, Nepal Reinsurance, United Modi Hydropower, and Sindhu Development Bank were the top performers.
