In the ongoing Triangular Women’s T20 Series in Nepal, the Netherlands pulled off a thrilling one-wicket win against Thailand on Thursday. Chasing a target of 110 runs set by Thailand, the Netherlands achieved the goal in 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process.
Fabé Mölkenboer contributed 32 runs, while Robin Rijcke scored 20, and Sterre Kalis added 14. For Thailand, Thipacha Puthavong was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for just 12 runs in her 4-over spell.
Earlier, Thailand batted first after winning the toss at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. They managed to score 109 runs in 20 overs, losing 5 wickets. Nannafat Chaian was the top scorer with an unbeaten 36 runs off 46 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six. Chanida Sutthirung also contributed 32 runs from 28 balls, hitting 4 fours. Captain Naruimol Chaiwai added 15 runs from 26 balls, while Suwanan Khiaoto remained not out on 10 runs.
For the Netherlands, Iris Willing took 3 wickets, and Heather Siegers claimed 2 wickets. This victory keeps the Netherlands’ hopes of winning the series alive, as they now need Nepal to defeat Thailand in the final match to secure the series win. The match between Nepal and the Netherlands is scheduled for Friday.
