1,233 Killed in Road Accidents

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, 1,233 people lost their lives in road accidents.

The increase in fatalities is attributed to reckless driving and a lack of compliance with traffic rules compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, in the previous fiscal year 2080/81 (Shrawan to Poush), there were 12,856 road accidents, resulting in 1,149 deaths. In the same period this year, 11,338 accidents occurred, leading to 1,233 deaths.

Although the total number of accidents has decreased, fatalities have increased. Spokesperson Ramchandra Tiwari stated that road accidents rose in Poush compared to Mangsir, but the death toll was lower.
