APF FC vs Nepal Police Club: The title clash of the Lumbini Cup International Invitational Women’s Football Tournament is set as departmental rivals APF Club and Nepal Police Club gear up to face each other in the final.

In the second semifinal held at Nepalgunj Stadium on Wednesday, APF Club secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Rautahat Football Association to book their spot in the final against Nepal Police Club.

Second-Half Brilliance Secures APF FC Win

The match remained goalless in the first half, but APF FC dominated the second half with three goals. Anita KC, Nisha Thokar, and Sabita Rana Magar each scored one goal to seal the win.

Anita KC was named Player of the Match for her performance, having opened the scoring in the 73rd minute. Nisha doubled the lead in the 80th minute, and Sabita wrapped up the game with a third goal in the 90th minute.

Police Club Edged Army in Sudden Death

Earlier, Nepal Police Club had secured their place in the final after defeating Tribhuvan Army Club in a tense penalty shootout that went to sudden death.

Coaches and Captains Share Their Views

Following the win, APF FC’s head coach Bhagwati Thapa expressed confidence in her team, stating that they are determined to win the title. She acknowledged the upcoming final as a tough battle between two strong departmental teams.

APF captain Anita Basnet mentioned that a lack of coordination cost them many scoring chances but also praised the Rautahat team for their fighting spirit.

On the other hand, Rautahat captain Saloni Magar blamed poor coordination between the defense and goalkeeper for the goals they conceded. She added that the outcome could have been different if they had played a non-departmental team.

Rautahat coach Bhojraj Ghimire echoed her sentiment, urging the organizers to include more non-departmental teams in future tournaments to ensure a balanced competition.
