The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Transport of Bagmati Province is planning to provide jobs to around 500 people in the Information Technology (IT) sector.
These jobs will be created through the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund, which was established under the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund Act, 2073 BS.
To move forward with this plan, the ministry and the fund signed an agreement on Sunday. Labour Minister Prem Bahadur Maharjan was present at the signing ceremony, where Ministry Secretary Birendra Dev Bharti and the Fund’s CEO Ramesh Ghimire signed the agreement.
As per the agreement, the fund will provide IT skill development training to youths who have passed Grade 12. It will also offer them low-interest loans and help connect them with employers in the IT field to create job opportunities.
Under this plan, the fund will select banks and financial institutions to manage the loan guarantees and sign agreements with them. The details of these institutions will be updated through an IT system.
Additionally, those contributing to the fund will create a separate fund named “Employment-Focused Skill Development Loan Guarantee Fund.” In this fund, 10% of the loan amount will be deposited. This fund will be used to collect quarterly guarantee fees and provide compensation in case of loan defaults.
Speaking at the event, Minister Maharjan said the ministry is committed to creating job opportunities within the country. He stressed the need to reduce the trend of going abroad for work and instead focus on finding opportunities at home.
