The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently holding “active and ongoing discussions” with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding their upcoming white-ball series in Pakistan. This follows growing tensions between India and Pakistan, which have raised concerns about the tour.
Tour Details and Safety Concerns
Bangladesh is set to play a five-match T20 series against Pakistan, scheduled to begin on May 21 in Lahore and Faisalabad. However, the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan have led to uncertainty surrounding the series, as reported by ESPNCricinfo.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board emphasized that the safety and security of their players and support staff remain their highest priority. The board assured that any decisions related to the tour would be made with careful consideration of the situation in Pakistan, keeping the best interests of the team and Bangladesh cricket at the forefront.
Bangladesh’s UAE Commitment
Before the potential tour to Pakistan, the Bangladesh team will travel to Dubai later this week for two T20 matches against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Players Return from Pakistan Super League
Meanwhile, Bangladesh players Rishad Hossain and Nishad Rana, who were participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), have returned home following the indefinite suspension of the tournament. Rishad, who played for Lahore Qalandars, and Rana, from Peshawar Zalmi, arrived in Dhaka on Friday. They will join the rest of the Bangladesh squad for their UAE trip on Wednesday. If the PSL resumes soon, it’s unlikely the duo will return to the tournament, as their focus will shift to Bangladesh’s international commitments.
