A district court in Kathmandu has issued an interim order against the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), instructing them not to act in violation of the agreement made with Jora Sports Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The order was issued by District Judge Dinbandhu Baral on Wednesday.
Jora Sports Entertainment filed a lawsuit, claiming that CAN violated the terms of their contract by organizing the Nepal Premier League (NPL) in contradiction to their agreement. During the preliminary hearing, the court scheduled a discussion for February 13.
Aamir Akhtar, the director of Jora Sports Entertainment, argued that CAN had breached their contract by hosting the NPL competition before the contract’s term expired. He also claimed that the registration for the NPL was under his name and that he had been organizing the competition. CAN had previously held a franchise cricket tournament under the NPL name in December.
