Knife Attack

A tragic incident occurred on Monday during the Bolbam fair at Madhuganga Mahadev Temple in Dudhauli Municipality-1, Sindhuli, where a devotee was killed with a sharp weapon.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased is an unidentified man of around 30 years, believed to be of Terai origin. Police recovered a knife and a sickle from the scene. His body was found near a cowshed close to the residence of Padam Bahadur Ghising, a local of Lamidanda Ghisingtol in Dudhauli-2.

It is suspected that the death occurred after a dispute broke out among a group of 10 to 12 devotees who had arrived at the temple. The group reportedly argued, which may have led to the fatal stabbing. The chest area of the victim showed signs of being attacked with a sharp weapon, said Superintendent of Police Lal Dhwaj Subedi.

Locals informed the police that after the dispute, the individuals involved fled the scene. The locals also mentioned they could not understand the language spoken by the group, suggesting they may have come from different regions.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Every year during the Nepali month of Shrawan, the Bolbam fair is held at this temple, attracting large numbers of pilgrims from various Terai districts including Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Bara, Parsa, and even parts of India. The fair has already begun this year as well, according to locals.
