According to News1’s June 17 report, Dex is set to make a special guest appearance in the upcoming Season 2 of Netflix’s original series Bloodhounds, created and directed by Kim Joo Hwan.
The action noir series Bloodhounds first captured audiences worldwide with its debut season in June 2023. The show quickly climbed into Netflix’s Top 10 rankings across 80 countries, gaining widespread popularity not only in South Korea but also in Southeast Asia and Latin America. It even secured the top spot on the global non-English series chart. Fans and critics alike praised the series for its intense fight choreography and the captivating chemistry between its leads.
Season 1 centers on Gun Woo (Woo Do Hwan), a talented boxer who becomes entangled with a high-interest illegal loan operation to cover his mother’s medical expenses. Alongside him is Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yi), a former Marine turned boxer, who forms a powerful alliance with Gun Woo. Together, they take on Kim Myung Gil (Huh Joon Ho), a formidable antagonist, highlighting the harsh realities faced by youth battling against merciless capitalism and violence.
Season 2 will expand the narrative, focusing on the protagonists confronting an international illegal boxing gambling syndicate. While the first season explored Korea’s underground loan shark world, the new season broadens its scope globally. Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi reprise their roles as Gun Woo and Woo Jin, respectively. Adding to the intensity is a fresh adversary portrayed by Jung Ji Hoon (Rain), promising a high-stakes clash.
Gun Woo’s character will be portrayed as more resilient and determined in this season, transitioning from fighting loan sharks to battling the deep-rooted corruption of the illegal boxing circuit. Woo Jin will bring upgraded action sequences and an electrifying partnership with Gun Woo once again.
Dex’s special appearance is anticipated to inject new vitality into the storyline. Known for his diverse performances after gaining recognition on the variety show Single’s Inferno, Dex has recently featured in projects like Game of Blood 2, Zombieverse, Fresh Off the Sea, and Adventure by Accident. He has also broadened his career as the MC of SBS’s audition show B: My Boyz.
Currently in production, Bloodhounds Season 2’s release date will be announced soon through Netflix.
