Crystal Palace moved into the FA Cup semifinals with a 3-0 win against Fulham. Eberechi Eze played a key role, scoring one goal and assisting another.
Eze’s goal came in the 34th minute when he curled a shot from outside the box, hitting the post before going in. Four minutes later, he assisted Ismaila Sarr, who scored a header. Substitute Eddie Nketiah sealed the win in the 75th minute by shooting through the legs of Fulham’s goalkeeper, Bernd Leno.
Palace Sets Club Record for Away Wins
With this victory, Palace won their sixth away game in a row, setting a club record.
Manager Oliver Glasner praised his team, saying, “It’s the attitude and hard work of this group that gives us belief in every game.”
Palace has never won the FA Cup but reached the final twice in 1990 and 2016, losing both times to Manchester United.
Mateta Returns After Head Injury
Jean-Philippe Mateta played for the first time since suffering a serious head injury that required 25 stitches. The forward was injured earlier this month after being kicked in the head by Millwall’s goalkeeper.
Wearing protective covering on his ear, Mateta played for 70 minutes before being replaced by Nketiah.
Forest Wins on Penalties Against Brighton
Nottingham Forest also reached the semifinals after beating Brighton 4-3 in a penalty shootout. The match ended 0-0 in regular time.
Goalkeeper Matz Sels was the hero, making two important saves in the shootout. Captain Ryan Yates scored the winning penalty, sending Forest’s fans into celebration.
Forest’s Successful Season Continues
Forest is currently third in the Premier League and aiming for a Champions League spot. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo was thrilled about reaching Wembley for the semifinals.
“It’s a beautiful moment for us,” he said.
Forest last won the FA Cup in 1959 and reached the final in 1991.
