A father and son lost their lives after being hit by a tipper truck in Ilam. The accident happened on Friday evening in Rong Rural Municipality-3, Hans Pokhari.
Seventy-year-old Pawan Kumar Rai and his 40-year-old son Dirgharaj Rai, residents of Phajigaun, Suryodaya Municipality-6, were seriously injured when the tipper hit their motorcycle. They were rushed to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for treatment but passed away on Saturday.
The accident occurred around 6:45 PM when the father and son were traveling on a motorcycle (Province 1-03-001 P 1585) from Jhapa to Ilam. A tipper truck (Ko 1 Kha 6462) coming from the opposite direction towards Jhapa collided with them.
Following the incident, the police took the tipper driver, Khagendra Thami from Maijogmai Rural Municipality-2, Ilam, into custody and have started an investigation.
