The Ministry of Finance has held discussions with the Ministry of Health and Population regarding the implementation of the national budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.
During the meeting, the Health Ministry proposed the recruitment of 2,100 additional personnel, including doctors and nurses, for federal hospitals. The goal is to strengthen specialized services and expand healthcare access across the country, according to the Secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
Health Minister Pradeep Paudel emphasized the urgent need for more medical staff to improve service delivery across all seven provinces. He highlighted that the expansion of services and effective healthcare delivery hinges on adequate human resources.
Finance Minister Paudel acknowledged the necessity of skilled health professionals and assured that further consultations would be held to finalize plans for workforce expansion. He also underlined the importance of making healthcare services faster, more efficient, and of higher quality.
The discussion also covered a range of key issues, including health insurance, social security, free medicines for children, and the detailed project report (DPR) for the new Bir Hospital being constructed in Duwakot, Bhaktapur. Burn treatment and related healthcare improvements were also part of the agenda.
