The fire in Makhan Tole, Ward No. 24 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, has been controlled.
The fire was controlled with the help of fire trucks, the Nepal Army, other security forces, and residents. Six fire trucks from Kathmandu and Lalitpur were used to extinguish the fire.
One woman died in the fire, but her identity has not been confirmed yet, according to Kathmandu Police spokesperson Apil Raj Bohora.
The fire started in a four-story house owned by Dayaram Shrestha, located behind Suraj Arcade in Makhan Galli. Police said it began on the third floor of the mud and wood house due to a gas leak.
The flames also spread to a nearby five-story concrete house owned by Rukesh Shrestha.
