Forced Abortion Allegation Case Filed Against In-Laws in Saptari

A disturbing case of forced abortion has surfaced from Hanumannagar Kankalini-2, Saptari. Twenty-year-old Sanisha Khang has filed a case against her in-laws, accusing them of making her take abortion pills without her will.

According to reports, her mother-in-law, Jhulful Devi Khang, and father-in-law, Parmeshwar Khang, allegedly gave her the pills on Tuesday night. Sanisha remained unconscious until Wednesday morning and was rushed to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital with police help. Unfortunately, it was too late to save the pregnancy.

Police have arrested both in-laws. Saptari Police Chief SP Dhakendra Khatiwada confirmed that they are under custody and being investigated under the abortion law, with a 10-day remand approved for further inquiry.

Sanisha had married Shivji Khang a year ago after a three-year relationship. Despite marrying at the Kankalini Temple with Shivji’s insistence, her in-laws never accepted her. She lived separately to finish her studies, but when she was finally brought into the family home in March, she faced rejection again.

Upon learning of her pregnancy, her in-laws allegedly planned to take her to Delhi for an abortion. They even held her in Daulatpur, Bihar for 12 days, but Sanisha escaped. After initially being denied shelter, she approached police, who later intervened and arranged for her to stay at home.

However, Sanisha claims her mother-in-law later forced her to take abortion medication, leading to the tragic loss of her unborn child.
