Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has passed away, according to live reports from Indian media outlet Live Mint.
The 92-year-old leader died on Thursday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital in New Delhi. Singh, who served as Prime Minister before Narendra Modi took office, was admitted to the hospital earlier the same day due to illness. He had retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year after serving for 33 years.
The hospital confirmed his death at 9:51 PM IST on Thursday, citing age-related health issues. Singh had been in a critical condition before being admitted.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on social media, highlighting Singh’s rise from a humble background to achieving great success.
