The song’s opening line, “Paari Tyo Dadama Gham Lagyo Ghamailo…”, became so deeply embedded in people’s minds that even after nine years, (From Resham Filili) fans still remember every lyric. This first solo recording not only cemented Kali’s place in the music industry but also created a lasting impact.
Back when the song was first released, it became such a massive hit that it overshadowed the film it was featured in—Resham Filili. Many didn’t even realize that Jalma was from that movie. Adding to the challenge, the 2015 earthquake in Nepal disrupted the film’s release, making the song even more significant than the movie itself.
Now, nearly a decade later, the Resham Filili team is back, planning a sequel. Producer Raunak Bikram Kandel approached Kali with a request: to recreate Jalma for the new film.
“This song has become like a nursery rhyme—deeply tied to people’s nostalgia,” Kali reflected. “We knew we couldn’t change it too much, but we also had to give it a fresh vibe.”
Lyricist Manas Raj helped rework the song’s lyrics while ensuring the original essence remained intact. Until the last moment before its release, they were fine-tuning the words, rewriting them at least five or six times.
Their goal was to retain the song’s original emotions while adapting it to the characters’ evolution over the past nine years. The characters in the film had matured, and so had their feelings—this needed to be reflected in the lyrics.
A new line, “Purwai Ko Batasai Ma…”, was introduced to serve as a catchy hook, just like the original “Paari Tyo Dadama.” However, everything else—singers, arrangement, and melody—remained the same to preserve the nostalgic essence.
Kali admits that creating a remake comes with pressure. “New creations often don’t surpass the original vibe, and we knew that. We had to work within a narrow space, ensuring we didn’t ‘ruin’ something that already belonged to the audience.”
Despite these concerns, Feri Jalma has already gained over 1.6 million views within four days of its YouTube release. Seeing this overwhelming response, Kali realized—the song truly has become a phenomenon once again.
