Get ready for a wild ride as “Hi-5”, a comic action-adventure film, gears up for its theatrical release on May 30. The movie follows five strangers who suddenly gain unique superpowers after receiving organ transplants — and must fight to protect themselves from those trying to steal their abilities.
Jinyoung takes on the role of Young Chun, a former weakling who becomes a powerful cult leader after receiving a pancreas transplant. The transplant gives him the ability to absorb youth, and he becomes obsessed with staying young forever. When he discovers that others like him also have powers, he sets out on a dangerous mission to take their abilities for himself.
Speaking about his decision to join the film, Jinyoung said, “The script was so interesting, there was no reason not to do it.” Taking on his first villain role, he saw it as a great opportunity to explore a different side of his acting. “From an actor’s perspective, it was a great role because it let me show different sides of my acting,” he shared.

To fully embody Young Chun, Jinyoung went through intense preparations — from working on his voice and movements to training his body to reflect his character’s bold and youthful energy. Director Kang Hyung Cheol had high praise for him, saying, “He is an incredibly hardworking actor. He created a style that felt like he was born to play Young Chun and gave an amazing performance.”
With its mix of action, comedy, and superpowers, Hi-5 promises to be a fun and thrilling cinematic experience — and Jinyoung’s dark turn is one fans won’t want to miss.
