Japanese production company Aniplex has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Haikyuu vs. The Little Giant, the highly anticipated second and final installment of the Haikyuu!! movie series.
The exciting news was shared by the makers on X (formerly Twitter), creating a buzz among fans of the popular volleyball anime.
A Story Inspired by the Manga Series
The upcoming movie is based on the Haikyuu!! manga, written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. The manga was serialized from 2012 to 2020, spanning an impressive 45 volumes.
The newly released teaser trailer offers a glimpse of Korai Hoshiumi, also known as the ‘Little Giant,’ displaying his exceptional volleyball skills. Fans also get to see Shoyo Hinata in action, symbolically portrayed as a crow, highlighting his growth as a player.
Sequel to the Record-Breaking First Film
Haikyuu!! vs. The Little Giant follows Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle, which was a massive success. Written and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka and produced by Production I.G, the first film grossed over ¥11 billion in Japan, making it the second highest-grossing Japanese film of 2024.
Returning Cast and Crew
The original voice cast is expected to reprise their roles, including:
- Ayumu Murase as Shoyo Hinata
- Ishikawa Kaito as Tobio Kageyama
- Yuki Kaji as Kenma Kozume
- Yuuichi Nakamura as Tetsurou Kuroo
Director Susumu Mitsunaka will once again helm the project, alongside composer Yuki Hayashi and character designer Takahiro Kishida.
