SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi to Serve in High-Alert Military Zone Near North Korea

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi is getting ready to enlist in the South Korean military, and fans are both proud and a bit worried after learning where he will serve.

During a livestream with Calm Down Man, fellow member Woozi casually mentioned, “I have a friend who will enlist a day after me. He’ll go to Yeoncheon.” Fans quickly realised Woozi was talking about Hoshi.

Yeoncheon is no ordinary place. It’s located close to the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), which separates North and South Korea. This area is home to the Republic of Korea Army’s 5th Infantry Division—also known as the ‘Key Division.’ The unit has a long history and has guarded South Korea’s northern border since 1948.

Serving in Yeoncheon is considered very tough. Soldiers stationed there must always be ready, and conditions can be harsher than at other bases. This is the same base where BTS’s Jin trained during his military service before completing it in June 2024.

Hoshi will enlist on September 16, just one day after Woozi. While the news about Yeoncheon has left some fans concerned, CARATs have been showing love and support on social media.

As Hoshi starts this important chapter of his life, fans around the world are cheering him on, wishing for his safety and strength during service.
