A shocking murder case has come to light in Sigalpatti, Laljhadi Rural Municipality–4 of Kanchanpur. According to the police, Ramreshar Rana was killed because of his wife’s alleged affair with another man. Rana, who worked as a laborer in Champawat, India, had returned home just 15 days before his death. On Baisakh 17, his body was found near his house. After investigation, police discovered that Rana’s wife Maya Chaudhary had been having an affair with a man named Punna Rana. The two had met in 2081 during Punna’s sand transport trips and had exchanged phone numbers. They started meeting regularly, and later Punna also became close with Maya’s neighbor, Manmati Chaudhary.
According to police, on the night of Baisakh 16, Punna visited Maya’s house thinking her husband was away. However, Ramreshar unexpectedly returned home. A heated argument and physical fight broke out between the couple. During the fight, Punna hit Ramreshar with a bamboo stick, which led to his death. After that, Maya, Punna, and Manmati allegedly dumped the body near the roadside. Based on complaints filed by the victim’s family, police arrested Punna Rana, who has been sent to jail for trial. Maya and Manmati were also ordered to be released on bail, but as they failed to pay the required amount, they were also sent to prison.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have confirmed that the motive behind the murder appears to be an extramarital affair involving the victim’s wife and two others.
