IPL 2025 was suspended on May 9 following a security incident during the 58th match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala. Technical and military tensions between India and Pakistan were cited as the primary reasons.
However, after careful consideration, the BCCI has now decided to restart the tournament on May 17, giving fans relief and excitement.
Revised Schedule and Final Date
According to the new schedule, IPL 2025 final will now take place on June 3—a shift from the earlier planned date of May 25. The resumption will kick off with a high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 17, marking the 59th match of the tournament.
Remaining Matches and Venues
A total of 17 matches, including playoffs and the final, are still to be played. These games will be held across six Indian cities:
- Bengaluru
- Jaipur
- Delhi
- Lucknow
- Mumbai
- Ahmedabad
The venues for the playoffs and final are yet to be confirmed by the BCCI. Fans can also look forward to double-headers on May 18 and May 25.
IPL 2025 Points Table Update
Currently, Gujarat Titans (GT) sit on top of the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points. They are followed closely by RCB, who also have 16 points. Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) occupy third and fourth positions respectively.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been eliminated from the playoff race.
