TikTok users had their scrolling unexpectedly interrupted. According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks technical issues, more than 33,000 users reported problems with TikTok in a short span of time.
The outage began around 4 p.m., with most reports peaking at 4:30 p.m. An hour later, the number of reports dropped to around 13,000, showing that the issue started to ease.
TikTok had not made any official statement about the outage. There were also no updates from TikTok’s verified X (formerly Twitter) accounts. TikTok has grown rapidly in recent years. It now has over 2 billion users around the world, becoming a major part of global pop culture and influencer trends. The app has also faced political challenges in the United States. Last year, President Biden signed a law that put TikTok’s future at risk. However, former President Trump recently delayed the enforcement of that ban by 75 days, giving TikTok some time.
