TWICE member Jeongyeon is set to begin a brand-new chapter in her career — acting! The 28-year-old K-pop star has reportedly been cast in the upcoming film New Recruit: The Movie, marking her first acting role since debuting with TWICE nearly a decade ago.
According to a July 22 report by YTN, quoted by Koreaboo, Jeongyeon will play a nursing officer in the film, which is a spin-off of the popular K-drama series New Recruit. While the original series focuses on military life in a unit, the movie version will shift the setting to a military hospital.
Fans are already buzzing with excitement. One user on X wrote, “Jeongyeon is making an acting debut!! This is legendary. We love to see it.” Another added, “So happy for our Jeongieeee!”
Jeongyeon’s acting debut comes shortly after her musical contribution to Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters, where she sang the hit track Takedown with fellow TWICE members Jihyo and Chaeyoung. With her successful music background, Jeongyeon is now taking her talents to the big screen.
The film’s production team is reportedly in the final stages of scriptwriting and planning, with filming expected to begin later this year. JYP Entertainment has yet to release an official statement regarding Jeongyeon’s new acting role.
Jeongyeon joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2010 and debuted with TWICE in October 2015. This new role marks a significant milestone in her evolving career.
