Kia Introduces Electric Van Designed for Wheelchair Users

Kia has unveiled its first-ever electric van tailored for wheelchair users, named PV5 WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle). This new van features a side-entry system that allows wheelchair users to easily board the vehicle directly from the sidewalk, making transportation more convenient and accessible.

It also includes a quick-deploying ramp that can support up to 300 kilograms (661 pounds). For added comfort and support, the third-row tip-up seats allow other passengers to assist the wheelchair user from the side. The van is equipped with a dedicated safety belt fastening system to securely accommodate wheelchairs during travel.

Kia developed the PV5 WAV in collaboration with Mobility Operations, an organization involved in the UK’s long-standing government vehicle leasing scheme. This initiative is focused on improving accessible transport options for people with disabilities.

The PV5 WAV has recently been made available for pre-order in the UK. While the price for the WAV version has not yet been disclosed, the standard model of the PV5 starts at around $44,000 USD.

This launch highlights Kia’s commitment to making mobility more inclusive for everyone.
