Machhindra FC has reached the semifinals of the 2nd Chief Minister’s Kapilvastu Tilaurakot Gold Cup Football Tournament. On Thursday, in the second quarterfinal, Machhindra defeated Himalayan Sherpa 3-0 in a penalty shootout, advancing to the final four.
As no goals were scored during the regular time, the match went into a penalty shootout. For Machhindra, Saurav Subba, Asim Gurung, and Pujan Shrestha scored, while Padam Shrestha’s attempt hit the post and went out.
For Himalayan Sherpa, Umesh Karki, Ashwin Ghorasaini, and Raj Kunwar’s attempts were stopped by Machhindra’s goalkeeper Santosh Mahat. Santosh Mahat, who played a heroic role in Machhindra’s victory, was declared the Player of the Match and received a trophy along with a cash prize of 10,000 rupees.
On Friday, the match between Three Star and Hanami BFC Chitwan will take place, as announced by the President of the District Football Association Kapilvastu, Tilak Thapa. The champion will receive a cash prize of 11,11,111 rupees, while the runner-up will get 5,55,555 rupees.
