The Khotang District Court has found Madan Rai guilty of child sexual abuse. He was accused of sexually abusing young girls and teenagers studying at the Shubhadra Madan Foundation, which he had established.
According to Sudip Bhattarai, the court’s information officer, Judge Narayan Prasad Dahal’s bench declared Rai guilty on Magh 10, 2081. A separate hearing to determine his punishment has been scheduled for Magh 25, 2081, as cases involving imprisonment of more than three years require a separate sentencing process.
Madan Rai had been accused of sexually abusing girls at his foundation for a long time. Setopati Online published a report on the matter 18 months ago, following which the police arrested Rai. After an investigation, the police filed a case against him in court.
