Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has challenged the government to put him in jail.
He issued this challenge while making public the opinion report he had his own employees prepare against the Chief Administrative Officer, Saroj Guragain.
In a Facebook status, Balen labeled Guragain as corrupt.
He wrote, “A government that protects such a law-breaking corrupt individual, while we are only supposed to listen to talks about good governance in speeches? If what I said above is wrong, then put me in jail.”
Balen had formed an investigation committee to probe Chief Administrative Officer Guragain. The committee prepared a report stating that Guragain had not made any mistakes in the map approval process for Kathmandu Tower.
However, Balen refused to accept the report. After that, he instructed three departmental heads of the metropolis to prepare a report as per his wishes. It was this report that he made public on Facebook today.
The report released by Balen suggests continuing the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s decision to invalidate the map approved by the Chief Administrative Officer.
