Murder on the Rise in Dhanusha

Dhanusha’s rural areas are in mourning after a series of murders in the past month, with locals shaken by the horrific crimes. Four people—two men and two women—have been killed, and some bodies have been found stuffed in sacks, increasing fear among residents. The recent killings have raised serious questions about the effectiveness of local law enforcement.

Murder Incidents

Incident 1:
On Friday morning, a 60-year-old man was found dead at the Durga Temple in Muralichowk, Janakpur. Police suspect that the man was killed by being hit with bricks in a late-night dispute. Alcohol bottles and cigarette butts were found near the scene, and the body was discovered by locals who were visiting the temple.

Incident 2:
On Thursday afternoon, the body of a man believed to be in his 30s was discovered in a sack near Parshuram Pond in Mithila Bihari Municipality-2. The man’s body showed signs of strangulation, and police suspect he was murdered before being dumped in the sack. His identity remains unknown, and police have launched an investigation.

Incident 3:
Two weeks ago, on 18th Mangsir, Rampari Devi Thakur, a 40-year-old woman from Bideha Municipality-5, was brutally murdered. Her body was found in two separate locations—her torso in a field and her head 205 feet away near a canal. Police arrested 50-year-old Sagamlal Pasman after finding bloodstained clothing and other items at his house. Authorities believe the murder was the result of a personal dispute.

Incident 4:
On 8th Mangsir, the body of 20-year-old Rekha Kumari from Janaknandini Municipality-4 was found in a sack near the Aama River. Initial investigations revealed that her death was caused by a dispute with her boyfriend, who allegedly killed her with the help of two accomplices. The three men have been arrested, and the case is under investigation.

The recent murders have caused widespread fear, with many locals questioning the role of law enforcement in preventing such crimes. Experts believe that social media disputes, drug use, and open borders are contributing to the rising crime rate in the area.

Retired SSP Gobinda Bahadur Shah pointed out that social media is playing a role in escalating tensions and leading to violent incidents. He emphasized the need for public awareness to prevent further crimes linked to online relationships.

Student leader Surendra Yadav from Janakpur also expressed concern about the increase in violence, stating that while law enforcement plays a crucial role in maintaining security, the authorities need to be more serious in addressing the situation. He also highlighted the impact of open borders and drug addiction on crime rates.

Dhanusha Police claim they are actively investigating the incidents and taking action against the perpetrators. Police Chief Bhubaneswar Tiwari stated that most of the murders appear to stem from personal disputes, and the open border with India contributes to the increase in criminal activities. He urged the public to stay alert and help raise awareness to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

As Dhanusha continues to grapple with these disturbing events, authorities are under pressure to restore safety and public confidence in law enforcement.
