Netflix is working on an English-language remake of the popular Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The original 2022 series starred Park Eun-bin as Woo Young-woo, a brilliant young lawyer on the autism spectrum who rises through the ranks at a major Seoul law firm.

According to Deadline, the American version is being developed by Emmy-winning writer Leila Gerstein, known for shows like Hart of Dixie, Gossip Girl, and The Handmaid’s Tale. The US adaptation will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, with KristieAnne Reed also attached as a producer.

While Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed the remake, the show’s past success makes it a strong candidate for a Western adaptation. After its debut on ENA in June 2022, Extraordinary Attorney Woo quickly climbed Netflix’s global charts, remaining at the top of its non-English-language category for six weeks.

The original K-drama, written by Moon Ji-won and directed by Yoo In-shik, became one of Korea’s most-watched cable dramas. Fans praised the show for its heartwarming storytelling, smart legal cases, and Park Eun-bin’s outstanding performance.

AStory, the company behind the original series, currently holds the remake rights. However, they have yet to confirm if the American adaptation is fully greenlit.

Stay tuned for more updates as Extraordinary Attorney Woo prepares to make its US debut with a brand-new twist.
