After stealing hearts in the hit 2025 K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, Park Bo-Gum and Lee Jun-Young are coming together in an unexpected and heartwarming way. Although their characters never shared screen time in the drama, the two Korean stars are collaborating on a new digital single — a reimagined version of If It Were Me.
The single is set to drop on June 20 across major streaming platforms. According to KBS 2TV, Park Bo-Gum will be showcasing his musical talent on the piano, while Lee Jun-Young lends his signature soulful vocals to the track. The song was first performed on the KBS music talk show The Seasons – Park Bo Gum’s Cantabile, which aired in April 2025. The emotionally charged live performance quickly gained momentum online, with a YouTube Shorts clip of the moment surpassing 1.2 million views. Fans have been eagerly demanding an official release ever since.
KBS highlighted the significance of the release, noting, “Park Bo Gum is the first MC of The Seasons to officially release a track he personally performed. His dedication and passion for music continue to shine.”
From Screen to Studio
In When Life Gives You Tangerines, Park Bo-Gum portrayed Gwan Shik, the devoted husband of IU’s character Ae Soon. Lee Jun-Young, on the other hand, played Young Beom, who becomes romantically involved with their daughter Geum Myung — also played by IU in a dual role. Due to the generational time jumps in the storyline, Bo-Gum and Jun-Young never appear in scenes together, with actor Park Hae-Joon later taking over as the older Gwan Shik.
While they may have missed out on on-screen interaction, this musical collaboration has given fans a new way to experience their chemistry. With Park’s delicate piano and Lee’s expressive voice, the upcoming release of If It Were Me promises to be a moving piece that blends both talent and emotion — much like their unforgettable roles in Tangerines.
