Police Seize 195 Kg Marijuana in Birgunj, Truck Driver Arrested

Police have seized a significant quantity of illegal marijuana in Birgunj. Acting on a tip-off, they apprehended an individual in possession of 195 kilograms of marijuana from Barwa, Ward No. 19 of Birgunj Metropolitan City. The operation was part of the ongoing crackdown against drug smuggling in the area.

According to the authorities, the arrested individual has been identified as 36-year-old Suklal Maharjan, a resident of Ramanthar, Ward No. 12, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Makwanpur. The arrest was made late on Saturday night during a targeted operation.

The police revealed that personnel from the Pokhariya Area Police Office, along with other units, intercepted a truck bearing the registration number Ba.Pr.03-001 Kh 3587. The truck was found unloading the marijuana, which was later concealed under a pile of straw. Suklal, the truck driver, was caught red-handed while attempting to flee the scene.

The seized marijuana and the arrested suspect are currently under investigation, with the police working to identify other individuals potentially involved in the smuggling network. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling the illegal drug trade and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities in their vicinity.
