Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie stars Rajinikanth as Deva—a legendary figure with unmatched style and power. How Rajinikanth Came on Board for Coolie
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj recently revealed how Rajinikanth joined Coolie. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared that he only narrated the first half of the story to Rajinikanth and paused at the interval to ask if he was interested. To his surprise, Rajinikanth immediately said yes—even though the second half wasn’t written yet. “When I came back with the full script a couple of months later, he loved it,” said Lokesh.
About the Film
As per Letterboxd, Coolie follows Deva, a former mafia boss whose empire has crumbled. Years later, he stumbles upon vintage golden watches embedded with stolen tech, allowing him to reconnect with his old gang. What begins as a mission to revive his past turns into a dangerous new challenge, testing Deva like never before.
