A young woman was seriously injured after being attacked with a khukuri in Gupteshwar, Umakunda Rural Municipality-6, Ramechhap.
According to officials, 32-year-old Rajin Sunuwar attacked 27-year-old Elisha Sunuwar with a khukuri on Wednesday evening. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation.
Due to heavy rainfall and poor road conditions, Elisha was airlifted to Kathmandu via Simrik Air helicopter and admitted to KMC Hospital for emergency treatment. Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa confirmed the air evacuation.
Rajin allegedly stabbed Elisha in the back, and her condition remains critical.
After the attack, Rajin tried to flee but was arrested from a place called Bhujhi in the same rural municipality.
Police in Ramechhap have started an investigation to determine the exact reason behind the incident. “The motive is still unclear. We’ve just brought the suspect to the district and will begin a detailed investigation,” said Police Chief Bhola Bhatta.
