Young footballer Gonzalo García scored a goal in the 93rd minute, helping Real Madrid defeat Leganes 3-2 on Wednesday and advance to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey.
Real Madrid initially took the lead with goals from Luka Modrić and Andrić. However, Juan Cruz of Leganés later scored two goals, bringing the match to a thrilling tie. As the game headed into extra time, 20-year-old forward Gonzalo scored the decisive goal. Real Madrid played without two of their key players, Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham.
After the victory, Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Gonzalo. He said, “Gonzalo has been performing very well recently and has presented a strong challenge for a spot in Real’s first-choice team. Such performances from young players always inspire us.”
