The much-awaited Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2025, organized by the Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation, is all set to begin this Wednesday at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Tripureshwar. According to the organizers, all preparations have been completed for the 8th edition of this national-level event.
Five Teams, Two Groups, One Goal
This year, five strong teams will compete in the Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2025, divided into two groups under a league-cum-knockout format. Group A features defending champions APF and Everest Volleyball Club Nepal Army. Group B includes last year’s runners-up Nepal Police Club and New Diamond Sports Club.
The opening day will see two high-voltage matches. The first game will be played between Nepal Army and APF, while the second match will pit Nepal Police against New Diamond.
Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2025: Big Prizes on the Line
The champions of the Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2025 will walk away with a cash prize of NPR 4.99 lakh. The runners-up will receive NPR 2.5 lakh, and the third-place team will get NPR 1.25 lakh. The Most Valuable Player of the tournament will be awarded NPR 50,000.
In addition, standout players in categories like Best Setter, Defense, Server, Libero, Spiker, and Coach will each receive NPR 25,000. Every “Player of the Match” will be rewarded with NPR 15,000. According to Foundation President Ranjan Khadka, over NPR 13 lakh has been allocated just for prizes, with the tournament’s estimated budget around NPR 50 lakh.
Special Recognition for Women in Sports
At the opening ceremony of the Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2025, one national female athlete will be honored with the prestigious “Sher Bahadur Khadka Special Award” and a cash prize of NPR 50,000. A coach will also be recognized with the same amount.
Khadka stated that the event is mainly sponsored by KNP Nerolac, a multinational paint company. Since 2072 BS, the foundation has organized this tournament annually to promote women’s empowerment and athletic development in volleyball.
APF has dominated the past editions, winning six out of seven tournaments. New Diamond Sports Club clinched the title in the 6th edition.
The final match of the Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2025 is scheduled for Baisakh 13 (April 26).
