The newly appointed head coach of the Nepal cricket team, Stuart Law, will arrive in Nepal this Friday, April 25. Nepal Cricket Association confirmed this date for his arrival. This comes nearly a month after his appointment as the head coach of the team on March 15.
Interim Coach Gyanendra Mall During the Wait
Before Stuart Law’s arrival, former cricketer Gyanendra Mall was appointed as the interim coach during the Four-Nation T20I series in Hong Kong. Mall served as the coach in the interim period.
Two-Year Contract for Stuart Law
Stuart Law, 56, has signed a two-year contract starting this April. The position had been vacant since January when the previous coach, Monty Desai, finished his term, and the contract was not renewed. After completing the application process and several other procedures, Stuart Law was selected as the new coach.
Stuart Law’s Rich Coaching Experience
Stuart Law brings vast coaching experience to Nepal. He has worked as the head coach for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, Afghanistan, and the United States. Law was also part of the Australian team that became the runners-up in the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
Second Australian to Coach Nepal’s Cricket Team
Stuart Law will be the second Australian to serve as the head coach of the Nepal cricket team. The first Australian coach was Dave Watmore, who was appointed in 2021.
