Two young men have been arrested for misbehaving and attacking supporters of Janakpur Bolts after the final match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament last Saturday.
The incident occurred after the final match between Janakpur Bolts and Sudurpashchim Royals at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The two men were arrested by the District Police Office.
The arrested individuals are Ashok Saud, 21, from Aadarsha Rural Municipality-2 in Doti, currently living in Kirtipur-8, Panga, and Ganesh Saud, 19, from Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-1 in Doti, currently residing in Kirtipur-7, Bhajangal.
Both of them were fans of Sudurpashchim Royals, the losing team. Janakpur defeated Sudurpashchim to win the first season of NPL.
They were accused of using offensive language, trying to disturb communal harmony, and behaving inappropriately with various people after the match. Based on complaints from victims and information gathered from different sources, the police launched an investigation and arrested the two on Sunday at 7 PM. They were taken to the Kirtipur Police Station.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police has also stated that they are searching for other individuals involved in the incident.
