The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has arrived in Kathmandu for a two-day visit.
He landed in Kathmandu on Tuesday night. At Tribhuvan International Airport, he was welcomed by Nepal’s Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharatsingh Bhandari, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, and other officials. After holding high-level meetings, he is scheduled to return from Kathmandu later today.

Sheikh Nahyan is accompanied by several senior officials, including:
- UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ali Mohammed Al Sayegh
- Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, Saeed Mubarak Rashid Al Hajeri
- Assistant Minister for Energy and Sustainability Affairs, Abdullah Balala
- UAE Ambassador to Nepal, Abdullah Jarwan Al Shamsi
- Other high-level UAE government officials
Planned Meetings
On Wednesday, Sheikh Nahyan is scheduled to meet with:
- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli
- Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba
- Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister, Prakashman Singh
They will discuss mutual relations, investment opportunities, and other important issues.
Topics of Discussion
Nepal is planning to ask the UAE to invest in its hydropower and tourism sectors. Discussions will also be held about helping Nepali workers who have returned from the UAE and sending Nepali women to work as domestic workers there.
Nepali workers are currently working in the UAE under a general labor agreement signed in 2019. It is estimated that around 500,000 Nepalis are working in the UAE. Last year alone, 200,000 Nepalis received labor approval to go there.
