Veteran actor and politician Vijayashanti has issued a strong message to detractors attempting to bring down her latest film Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi, starring alongside Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. Speaking at the film’s success meet, she expressed her gratitude to fans for the positive reception, while also taking a firm stand against what she described as deliberate negativity in the industry.
“Some people are intentionally trying to create disturbance,” Vijayashanti said. “It could be sadism or something else—I’m not sure. But don’t you realise the damage you’re doing to the producers, actors, and teams that invest crores into making these films?”
Her words were directed at those engaging in online fan wars and spreading negativity about films, regardless of who stars in them. “This isn’t just unfair—it’s unethical. I’m calling it out because it has to stop. The hero doesn’t matter here; what you’re doing is simply wrong.”
She didn’t hold back in warning such individuals, urging them to let the industry thrive. “Cinema belongs to everyone. If you don’t like a film, just don’t watch it. But don’t try to sabotage it. I’m warning you—stop it now. And if someone’s encouraging this behaviour, go be their follower, but leave the film alone.”
Addressing the impact such toxicity could have on younger actors, she said, “We seniors can handle it. But the new generation of actors may find it harder. What you’re doing is unforgivable. Stop being petty. Lies won’t last—the truth will always prevail.”
A Noteworthy Comeback
Vijayashanti, who took a long break from the film industry after her prolific run in the ’90s, returned in 2020 with Sarileru Neekevvaru opposite Mahesh Babu. Her most recent outing, Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi, directed by Pradeep Chilukuri, hit theatres on April 18.
