Two women died and one was slightly injured after being electrocuted in Mircha Dagi, Ratuwamai Municipality-3 of Morang district.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening around 8:20 PM during a wedding event of Niraj Kumar Singh, son of Mangallal Singh. A microphone had been tied to a bamboo pole for the ceremony. Due to strong winds, the bamboo fell and touched a high-tension electric line, causing an electric shock, police said.
The victims were 73-year-old Suryadevi Gangai, wife of Satarulal Gangai, and 70-year-old Ramudevi Gangai, wife of Jatarulal Gangai. Both were seriously injured and taken to Rangeli Hospital, where they died during treatment around 9:00 PM.
Another woman, Radhakumari Singh, received minor injuries and was treated at Jhurkiya Municipal Hospital before being discharged.
Police from Mahadeva Police Post and Sijuwa Area Police Office are investigating the case.
