A young man has been arrested for burning a picture of Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), the Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister.
The arrested individual, Nirajan Bam, is a leader of the youth wing of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). He was arrested by police at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan while preparing to travel to Kathmandu. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, led by Ramesh Lekh.
The incident took place on Saturday during a program in Hetaunda, Makwanpur. Bam burned Prachanda’s picture during the RPP youth wing’s district conference in Makwanpur. The act was followed by slogans against the republic, with people chanting “Down with the Republic.”
