Nine individuals, including two Indian nationals, have been arrested with illegal drugs in four districts of Nepal: Bardiya, Lalitpur, Bara, and Udayapur.
According to Nepal Police, four suspects were apprehended from Bardiya, two each from Lalitpur and Bara, and one from Udayapur.
Arrests in Bardiya
In Bardiya’s Barbardiya Municipality-4, Kusum Ghat, police arrested two individuals on Wednesday evening with approximately 1.20 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar, cash amounting to Rs. 3,646, and two mobile phones.
The arrested have been identified as 25-year-old Dinesh Chaudhary of Kokiya village, Gulariya Municipality-8, and 22-year-old Rajkumar Ahir of Khale Gulariya, Gulariya Municipality-7. They were arrested by a team from the Baniyabhar Area Police Office.
In another incident in Bardiya, police arrested two more individuals from Futtaha, Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-2, with 810 milligrams of brown sugar-like substance, Rs. 22,500 in cash, and two mobile phones. The suspects—35-year-old Sumit Shahi and 30-year-old Anil Thapa of Thulodanfe, Badhaiyatal-1—were caught while crossing into Nepal from India on bicycles. The operation was conducted by a team from the Jamuni Police Post on Wednesday afternoon.
Arrests in Lalitpur
Two more individuals were apprehended in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-3, Dhobighat, with a large quantity of controlled drugs. The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Sujan Chhetri of Bhimphedi-7, Makawanpur, currently residing in Badegaun, Godawari Municipality-14, and 24-year-old Dipesh Bhandari of Khanda Devi Rural Municipality-8, Ramechhap.
Police seized 3,000 tablets of Tramadol and Rs. 5,500 in cash from their possession. They were riding a motorcycle (registration number Ba.92 Pa 6593) and were arrested on Wednesday evening by a team deployed from the Sanepa Police Post.
Arrest in Udayapur
In Udayapur, police arrested 21-year-old Diwas BK of Bhachuwa, Belka Municipality-9, on Wednesday night with around 240 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar. The arrest was made by a team from the Rampur Thoksila Area Police Office.
Arrests in Bara
Two Indian nationals were arrested from Ghodasahan, near Chautara in Pheta Rural Municipality-3, Bara, on Wednesday afternoon. The suspects are 30-year-old Tutu Kumar and 32-year-old Tutu Ansari, both residents of Shivnagar Inarwa Panchayat, East Champaran-2, Bihar, India.
They were caught during a routine inspection of a tractor (registration number Na.3 Ta 4714) by a team from the District Police Office, Bara. The illegal substances were found during the search, leading to the arrest of the driver, Tutu Kumar, and passenger Tutu Ansari.
Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing in all cases.
